<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The concept of a one-size-fits-all insurance regulatory authority is made more difficult by the nature of complex multinational businesses, including large insurance groups that have ties to the banking sector. Conversely, some fear that smaller insurance companies might get lost in the mix if global standards come to the forefront. Moving forward, international insurance regulators who are members of the IAIS believe that one good outcome of the current environment is that it has served to bring to light the need to move away from antiquated regulatory silos and toward increased coordination and cooperation between international regulatory authorities</abstract>
