<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La cantidad de accidentes de tráfico que cada año ocurren en las carreteras, obliga a analizar los factores que los causan. Existen varios factores que pueden ser el motivo de un accidente: el factor humano, bien sea los propios conductores, peatones o pasajeros; los vehículos, y las infraestructuras. Estos factores pueden aparecer de forma individual o interactuando entre sí; pero la importancia de cada uno de ellos es diferente, siendo el humano la causa del mayor porcentaje de accidentes, principalmente debido a la distracción del conductor, como recogen las estadísticas publicadas por las autoridades de tráfico. En este trabajo, se estudian los accidentes de tráfico ocurridos en la ciudad de Santander en 2010, según los motivos que los causan, y su variación en verano e invierno. Al final se recomiendan una serie de acciones sobre las infraestructuras viarias, conductores y la circulación urbana, para mejorar la seguridad vial.</abstract>
