<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This book is one result of a study commissioned by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions into national health and safety policies and strategies in thirteen member states of the European Union. The same study has resulted in a number of other publications, which, although each is intended to stand alone, are all very much related. The full set of publications from this study include detailed reports for each country and a second consolidated report written by Françoise Piotet which takes an analytical approach to the same material that is presented from a more factual and descriptive perspective in this volume.</abstract>
