<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Mateo Varela es el director del BSC, el centro pionero de la supercomputación en España especializado en la computación de altas prestaciones (HPC o High Performance Computing). Coordina a más de trescientos expertos y profesionales de la I+D+i organizados en cuatro grandes áreas de investigación: Ciencias de la Computación, Ciencias de la Vida, Ciencias de la Tierra y aplicaciones computacionales en ciencia e ingeniería. El BSC nació con el objetivo de desarrollar y gestionar la tecnología que facilitara el progreso científico. Desde entonces, también colaboran para la industria y el sector privado.</abstract>
