<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The Internet of Things (IoT), a growing network of connected objects able to collect and exchange data using embedded sensors, will change how businesses, governments, and consumers interact with the physical world. By the end of 2020, we project an installed base of 24 billion IoT devices worldwide, up from 4.2 billion in 2015. IoT devices are composed of any stand-alone internet-connected device that can be either monitored and/or controlled from a remote location, including sensors, appliances, asset trackers, gadgets, robots, and more.In this report, we provide a detailed explanation of the components found in the IoT ecosystem, including remotes, networks, gateways, analytics, dashboards, data storage, and more. We then explain the IoT market, including drivers and barriers. Next, we size the market with metrics on number of devices, investment, and return on investment. Finally, we examine how the IoT is evolving in 16 different environments</abstract>
