In just 20 years, global markets have swung between the strong bull market of the 90s and the depths of the dot-com bubble, its burst and the ubiquitous financial crisis. These events have affected companies, employees, shareholders and society in different, yet significant, ways. They have created a more onerous regulatory environment an era of compliance changing the way risk is viewed and managed within an organization. Financial services companies that are doing it right are looking beyond compliance and embracing a corporate culture of risk governance. They strive to institute compensation programs that support their business and people strategies. Insurers are challenged to get their compensation programs to foster the right behaviors that support their business objectives against the current backdrop.
