<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The coming year looks set to be an exciting but challenging one for general insurers in Asia as strong growth continues in many markets across the region writes Nicky Burridge. Reinsurance giant Swiss Re has penciled in real general insurance premium growth of 8% in emerging Asian markets in 2017, rising to 9% in 2018, up from an estimated 5.3% in 2016 - the strongest growth for any region in the world. Ratings agency Fitch is also buoyant on the region expecting emerging Asia's GDP to grow on average 5.5% this year.</abstract>
