Our interviews with senior executives of regional and international re-/insurance companies and intermediaries were overshadowed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and its uncertain economic and insurance effects. The novel coronavirus outbreak resulted in extensive business shutdowns and stay-at-home orders that upended most global and African economies in just a few weeks.
