<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This discussion paper presents EIOPA's first public step towards preparing a report for the European Commission on the implementation of an integrated data collection system in the insurance and pensions sectors. It analyses the current regulatory reporting framework, identifying overlaps, inconsistencies, and administrative burdens arising from various European and national requirements. The paper examines in detail the reporting chain, associated costs, and opportunities for harmonisation, standardisation, and data reuse. It also reviews reporting on derivatives, collective investment undertakings, and sustainability, and invites market participants to provide feedback. The ultimate objective is to improve efficiency, reduce compliance costs, and strengthen financial supervision within the European Union</abstract>
