Using representative data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), the study identifies different caregiving profiles that combine care for parents, spouses, and grandchildren. Through latent class analysis and regression models, the association between these caregiving patterns and changes in mental health over time is assessed. The results show that intensive spousal caregiving is associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms, whereas combined caregiving for parents and grandchildren does not present significant negative effects. The study provides relevant implications for social policies and support services for caregivers
