For a variety of reasons, the Canandian experience may well differ from that in the U.S. These reasons include the availability of a universal health care system, a less litigious legal environment, and a greater emphasis on first-party coverage in Canada. In this paper, consideration is given to some of the differences between the Canadian and U.S. systems, form which two hypotheses are developed and tested. Results indicate tha indeed the Canadian experience with no-fault is distinct from what is hypothesised by no-fault proponents and also from experience in some U.S. jurisdictions
