The Technology Committee of the British Occupational Hygiene Society has prepared recently a draft document "Technical Guidelines for the Design of Hearing Protectors for General Industrial Use", which is intended to cover the design of all hearing protectors, including those incorporating mechanical moving parts, for general industrial use. Headsets intended specifically for communications purposes and certain special purpose hearing protectos are excluded. Guidance is given on some of the physical requirements for comfortable, durable and generally acceptable personal hearing protectorsring protection may also experience difficulties with communication, especially when they already have hearing deficiencies
