Section: ArticlesTitle: Control of particulate emissions from electric-arc welding by process modification / C.N. Gray and P.J. HewittAuthor: Gray, C.N.Notes: Sumario: The possible health hazards due to particulate fumes produced during electric arc welding arc of considerable concern. Fume control by ventilation and local extraction is often used to good effects in industry, but can be misused. Attention is given in this paper to modification of the welding process to reduce or prevent such emissions at source. Investigations of fume formation reveal complex dependences of fume formation rate and composition on process parameters. By undertanding the physical mechanisms underlying these effects the full potential for reducing fume emissions, or rendering them less hazardous, can be realised. A number of ways in wich the hazards of fume can be reduced by modifications to the welding process or materials are describedRelated records: En: The Annals of occupational hygiene. - Oxford [etc.].
