<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) quotes the fugitive emissions from a 'standard' hypothetical refinery as around 6.7 tons per day. To achieve cost effective control, however, requires knowledge of the levels of improvement that can be provided by the various control methods. Although a number of studies have been carried out, none has secceeded in solving all the measurement and analytical problems and the European approach to this subject which is expected to progress via BOHS and CONCAWE working groups over the next 1-2 yr</abstract>
