Notes: Sumario: Approximately 1.5 tonnes of lead were melted in an oil-fired furnace. The furnace pot was emptied and then carefully scraped clean while still hot. The furnace was reused the following day for melting gunmental, when the high temperature required caused residual lead to vaporize.
