<dc:description xml:lang="es">Sumario: The author discusses the health and safety problems posed by the increasing mechanization of the ceramic industry. Mass production methods of tile-making are now being extended to sanitary ware and pottery, leading to a decrease in the number of craftsmen and an increase in workers with technical and engineering skills and the effect of this trend on safety and training needs urgent consideration. It falls to management, with its all-embracing and often conflicting responsibilities and priorities, to tackle the problem of what is reasonably practicable in dealing with health and safety, so an important factor always will be the ability and training of those who manage</dc:description>
