<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El autor realiza una entrevista a Juan Sanz, presidente de GME. El Sr. Sanz se enfrenta a la dura tarea de mantener el rumbo de la nave por la senda de la rentabilidad, en medio de un temporal provocado por la crisis que amenaza no sólo con desviar a otros puertos a muchos constructores de automóviles incapaces de soportar una reducción del mercado nacional del 40 po 100 sobre 1989. Hay exceso de capacidad productora, la demanda cae en toda Europa, y los costos de la reconversión pueden ser muy traumáticos para un país como el nuestro, en donde el 10 por 100 de la población vive directa e indirectamente del automóvil, y en donde el Estado recauda más de la quinta parte de sus ingresos a costa del mismo. Un punto éste último, que mueve a reflexión si de verdad se pretende defender esta industria en España, cuarto constructor mundial de vehículos, y que es además la primera exportadora de nuestro país</abstract>
