Sumario: Air-purifying respirators equipped with particle and/or gas-removing filters are worn usually during light or moderately heavy tasks of extended duration in atmospherically-hostile environments. The aim of this study was to quantify the effect of mask use at a work level corresponding to about 40% of the subject'a aerobic capacity, and to more clearly define the suitability of mask use for prolonged activity
