<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Au Québec, plus du quart des accidents du travail survenus en 1987 sont des douleurs vertébrales. Ces accidents, non seulement fréquents, entraînent également des durées moyennes d'absence du travail relativement longues. De plus, la probabilité de reprendre le travail s'amenuise avec la durée d'absence. Afin d'étudier les facteurs pouvant influencer les durées et les lésions les ayant occasionnées, un questionnaire a été adressé par téléphone à quelques 1500 accidentés du travail. La durée de l'absence observée au cours des 12 mois suivant l'accident a été étudiée. Un médecin de travail a validé l'information médicale contenue dans les dossiers papier de ces accidentés</abstract>
