Sumario: Old age is not necessarily a condition of disability, but rather an increase in the probability of a number of small changes in performance parameters -- Interactions between decrements in independent cognitive sub-systems -- Models of the time course of cognitive changes in old age require data both on group means and on individual variability within age-groups -- Changes in between indicidual variance as age increases -- As individual age the gaps between the levels of their best and worst attainments increases -- Conclusions
