<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The literature on times for movement of the foot from the accelerator to the brake was reviewed and found to be generally lacking in any reasonably complete experiment in which the major factors affecting movement time are considered, although some trends do emerge from the data. Two new experiments are reported which give a more complete picture of the effects of lateral and vertical displacements of the two pedals. The data have been correlated in term of two component ballistic model for movement, giving an excellent fit to the data</abstract>
