<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En este artículo se analiza el papel que el desempeño de la función directiva tiene como factor determinante en la competitividad de las empresas. Los factores determinantes del nivel de competitividad de una empresa son muy diversos y están relacionados tanto con características de la propia empresa como del entorno en que la misma se desenvuelve. Cuando de analiza el porqué de una hipotética pérdida de competitividad se pueden buscar las causas en factores del entorno o en factores internos. La competitividad es la resultante de la interacción de todos estos elementos. Aquí los autores centran su atención en uno de ellos: el management. El management o función directiva consiste en la realización de una serie de tareas por parte de los directivos, las cuales constituyen el eje de la actividad empresarial</abstract>
