The purpose of this study was to determine if bacteriological aerosols were released while the prototype infectious waste compactor was being used to reduce the volume of waste material. Samples were collected at various areas during the compression of waste containing a known indicator bacteria. Data collected from the study can be used as a basis for improving the design of both the compactor and the equipment evaluation protocol
