Sumario: In the present study. the authors report on the catalytic effect of Cu2+ on the oxidation of sulfide. Such oxidation may be a possible cause of sulfide in alkaline solution. The stabilization of sulfide in alkaline solution can be accomplished through the addition of triethanolamine and EDTA; these form complexes with Cu2+ and other metal ions
