Notes: Sumario: New types of fibrous materials, used as substitutes for asbestos, cause serious hygienic problems and are classified as proved carcinogens. Currently, wollastonite, a mineral asbestos substitute, attracts considerable attention. It has membranolytic effects on erythrocytes and in vitro experiments it caused morphological and functional changes in lung macrophages.
