Notes: Paper read at the Workshop on Health Risks Associated with Chrysotile Asbestos, held in Jersey, Channel Islands, 14-17 November 1993Sumario: Asbestos inhalation can cause fibrotic reactions both in the lung parenchyma and in the pleura. The incidence and relative proportions of these lesions in any cohort will be dependent on: the time factor, the dose-response, and the early lesions are difficult to diagnose radiologically and are prone to overdiagnosis. It is generally accepted that the occurrence of radiological asbestosis is a risk factor, particulary for bronchial carcinoma. However, pleural plaques have been considered to be relatively harmless. Recent data have indicated, however, that they can be indicators of sufficient exposure to increase the risk of other asbestos-related diseases, including lung cancer and mesotheliomaRelated records: En: The Annals of occupational hygiene. - Oxford [etc.]. - nº 4, August 1994 ; p. 561-567Materia / lugar / evento: Higiene industrial Amianto Enfermedades profesionales Enfermedades pulmonares Asbestosis Cáncer Mesotelioma Secondary titles: Título: The Annals of occupational hygiene
