Methylene-bis-(phenylisocyanate) [MDI] is a commercially important isocyanate compound used in the production of rigid polyurethane foams, polyurethane coatings, adhesives, etc. Exposure to isocyanates in the workplace may result in excess annual decline in lung function of workers; in addition, the development of occupational asthma or, less commonly, hypersensitivity pneumonitis is possible in susceptible individuals. Airbone MDI in the workplace has been shown to exist in both gaseous and condensed phases. The physical state of airbone MDI in the workplace has been shown to exist in both gaseous and condensed phases
