The Effect of an alternate environment as a collection medium on the permeation characteristics of solid organics through protective glove materials / Christopher Fricker, James K. Hardy
Sumario: The skin is considered the primary defense against exposure to many hazardous chemicals in the workplace. After inhalation it is the next major route of entry for chemical agents into the body. Often this defense is aided by use of a protective glove material that prevents contact with the skin. However, research has shown that these materials often yield limited protection against liquid or solid chemical permeation, and that protection varies widely according to material type. Researchers have suggested different liquid collection media, such as deionized water, saline, and mixtures of fats and water to simulate glove use. The conclusions were limited by the lack of liquid permeation data at that time and by analytical difficulties of the collection media
