Sumario: The political and economic reforms in former socialist European countries brought great hopes, not least in the insurance industry. The Sloven basic law on the insurance industry will take a further, qualitative, step towards European orientation. The resemblance is evident in the classification of types and groups, in the establishement of professional insurance supervision, in accounting standards and in the regulation of insurance investments
