When it comes to the actual mechanics of skin-cancer prevention, there's nothing new under the sun. Primary prevention - stopping the disease before it starts - remains a matter of protecting skin from the sun's ultraviolet rays with clothing and sunscreen lotions. Secondary prevention - identifying the disease and keeping it from progressing - continues to require regular monitoring of moles and other skin irregularities.
