<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Ante las elevadas cifras de víctimas ocasionadas por los accidentes de circulación, la seguridad pasiva de los automóviles constituye una preocupación constante para los fabricantes de autos. Sistemas como el airbag, procon-ten, habitáculos indeformables, parachoques absorventes, entre otros, conforman algunos de los medios más usuales para salvar, en muchos casos, la vida de los pasajeros. La investigación y desarrollo de estos sistemas, a través de choques simulados (crash-test), se realiza en centros dotados de los más evolucionados adelantos técnicos, algunos de los cuales se analizan en este artículo</abstract>
