Notes: Sumario: The present study clarifies the influence of the normal wear of shoe heels and soles on their frictional properties. All friction measurements were performed with a prototype apparatus developed at the Institute of Occupational Health. The work is a completion of earlier work to examine means of improving the slip resistance of safety footwear. The fundamental mechanisms of friction between shoe soles and contamined floors are also discussed.
