<abstract displayLabel="Summary">ISO 14001 certification could be valuable to underwriters, but they have been slow to recognize it. Environmental liability insurers and brokers are feeling pressure from their customers to give discounts for being ISO 14001 certified. But, as is the case with ISO 9000 registrants for nenenvironmental coverages, hardly any carriers offer specific credits. Even so, based on the ISO 9000 experience, ISO 14001 registration is expected to help buyers of envirnomental liability policies get more favorable terms. That may be bad news for insurers who already have seen prices plummet over the past five or six years</abstract>
