The foundation of this paper is the analysis of trade flows between the EU and its borders and peripheries, on the economic side, an the political dimension of this relationship, on the strategical side. The authors identify three shortcomings in the Declaration of Barcelona: the failure in opening European agricultural markets, the holding up of economic and political "status quo" in Mediterranean countries and the difficulties to implement the instruments to develop a cultural dialogue between European and Arab cultureMateria / lugar / evento: Integración europeaUnión EuropeaEspacio Económico EuropeoPaíses del EstePaíses mediterráneosRelaciones económicasPolítica económicaDeclaración de BarcelonaConferenciasOtros autores: Escribano, Gonzalo Seminar at the European Union: a Common Approach towards the East and the South (September 1997: Lisbon) Other categories: 921.4Rights: In Copyright (InC)
