The Congress was hosted by the Nordic Ergonomics Society and the Finnish Ergonomics SocietySumario: This paper attempts to provide a perspective on how the role of human factors in traffic systems is changing and why it will undergo even more dramatic changes in the future. To understand these changes, it is necessary to view human factors within ghe context of advances in transportation technology and engineering.
