<abstract>Two different theorical perspectives are used to develop sets of hypotheses regarding the mecanisms used to manage foreign subsidiaries of multinational corporations in U.S. First, agency theory serves as a model  that predicts the use of monitoring mechanisms and incentive compensation. The second theory links internacional interdependence to several social control mechanisms.</abstract>
