The Commission on Risk Assessment and Risk Management was comprised of professionals from health and environmental organizations, academia, research institutes, industry and a law firms. The new approach was aimed at: identifying all sources of a pollutant and working to reduce emissions from all those sources; considering the interactive and cumulative impacts of pollutants, such as those that become carcinogenic when attached to other chemicals; establishing a cooperative, rather than adversarial, relationship between government and industry
