<abstract>A significant decline also occurred in the number of workplace accidents resulting in lost-work days. In 1992 the number of accidents was 3,0 per 100 workers. In 2000 that figure dropped to 1,8 per 100 workers, based  on employer reports compiled by the Department of Labor. At the same time, some are concerned that more injured workers have been denied benefits as states have tightened eligibility rules for workers compensation. Other reasons for the continued decline include more active management of medical care and more efficient return-to-work programs -- Employer costs -- Injuries and illnesses -- Disability types -- Many factors influence state-paid benefits</abstract>
