Notes: In the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996 Congress required that by October 1999 all U.S utilities begin mailing annual reports on drinking water quality to their customers. As part of a broader research project on drinking water beliefs and comunication, experiments examined customer reactions to diverse hypothetical versions of such a report.
