This study investigated the prevalence of both accuriate and erroneous earthquake-related beliefs among a sample of Southern Califonia college student and the relationship beteewn their endorsement of earthquake beliefs and a adoption of seismic hazard adjustemetns. In adition, the study examined the effects on an experiental earthquake education program and the impact of need for cognition of this program
