<abstract displayLabel="Summary">2010 has already proven to be a devastating year for earthquakes, with events in Haiti and Chile providing the world with a tragic reminder of the power and destructive capabilities of these natural perils. the Chile earthquake was particularly notable, as the seventh largest magnitude earthquake ever recorded. Most earthquakes of this kind areproduced at subduction zones: this report considers some of the locations where such earthquakes may occur in the future and result in losses to the insurance industry: Caribbean (lesser Antilles), Chile, Indonesia (Sumatra), Japan, North America (Cascadia)</abstract>
