<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Nuestro modelo de Seguridad Social celebró en el año 2000 su primer centenario, si bien propiamente esta efemérides iba referida al aseguramiento empresarial de las contingencias profesionales por mandato legal. No es posible analizar la evolución del Sistema de Seguridad Social separándolo la actividad empresarial, que ha sido fuente generadora de riqueza y empleo contribuyendo a través de gravámenes y tasas al sostenimiento y desarrollo de las políticas públicas de protección social, tanto en nuestro país como en el entorno europeo</abstract>
