<abstract displayLabel="Summary">¿La investigación académica vale realmente lo que los estudiantes, sin saberlo, pagan por ella? No, por lo menos eso es lo que piensa Larry Zicklin, ex presidente de Neuberger Berman y actual profesor de la Escuela de Negocios Stern de la Universidad de Nueva York. Zicklin, además, imparte frecuentes charlas sobre ética en Wharton. En este artículo, él destaca que si los profesores asumieran mayores horas de clase e hicieran menos investigaciones, las universidades ofrecerían una enseñanza de nivel superior por una fracción del coste  actual. Lo que se perdería con ello sería una sucesión de investigaciones cuyo interés es sólo marginal. Zicklin prevé que la enseñanza online y otras fuerzas del libre mercado ciertamente revertirán esa situación preocupante. Él también se pregunta si los estudiantes no deberían tener derecho a opinar sobre cómo desean que se gaste el dinero de las tasas que pagan a la institución donde estudian</abstract>
