From earthquake acceleration to seismic displacement : the fifth Mallet-Milne lecture / Bruce A. Bolt. — Chichester [etc.] : John Wiley & Sons, 1996
49 p. : il. ; 26 cm . — (Mallet-Milne lecture series ; 5)
The biennial Mallet-Milne Lecture was inaugurated by the Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED) in 1987 to commemorate the lifeof two British pioneers in the fields of earthquake engineering and seismology: Robert Mallet (1810-1881) and John Milne (1850-1913). In the fifth lecture Bruce Bolt provided a critique of the methods commonly applied for the specification of seismic ground motion in engineering deisgn and identified key areas for further improvement of earthquake ground motion estimation
Bibliografía: P. 42-47. — Sumario: Explains the shift away from peak ground acceleration scaling towards a more complete set of ground motion descriptors, a move which will require closer integration of the disciplines of strong motion seismology and geotechnical and structural engineering in the future
