<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This report has been prepared by the Aon Benfield agricultura! practice group and aims to provide important background information to the agricultura! insurance industry in China. In the first section the report provides the history and current status of Chinese agricultura insurance, and goes on to describe the crops grown and production methods applied in China. The second section describes the role of the Chinese Government and their policies in the many areas that have sorne implication for agricultural insurance. This ranges from direct policies such as the provision of premium subsidies, through to policies in other areas which have an impact on the risk, such as the expansion of irrigation and flood protection programmes</abstract>
