The health care and life sciences industry has made dramatic progress in using big data and analytics to advance the proverbial triple aim better health, better care experience and lower costs. Technologies such as cloud computing, high-performance analytics and visual analytics have redefined what is possible, how fast it can be done and how readily it can be shared. However, much potential remains untapped because many organizations lack a culture where people understand, value and demand fact-based decisions and strategies. That needs to change. Smart, lean operational decisions become ever more critical as we bring more people onto the health care rolls and transform the health care system from a fee-for-service model to pay for performance
