<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En este artículo exploro el posible impacto de esa descentralización en los medios de pago y, por extensión, en la actividad de la banca y las empresas. A partir de mis publicaciones sobre el funcionamiento del sistema financiero y mi experiencia como consejero de instituciones bancarias, describo el papel tradicional de los bancos y enumero las ventajas y oportunidades que ofrece blockchain junto con uno de sus desarrollos, el denominado Ripple. También explico los retos y ventajas de este fenómeno.</abstract>
