<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This month we cover the ongoing issues of managing catastrophic medical claims. There is so much more to the subject than cost containment medical case management is essential when clients are seriously ill in another country. We ask if, in terms of damage limitation, is it best to get the patient back into a national healthcare service and at what point does medical care overseas become untenable for the insurer. We also cover the importance of investing in marketing, social media and PR best practice when it comes to crisis management. We learn how large PR firms advise clients to handle bad publicity specifically in the case of the travel insurance sector. Tourism in the Caribbean continues to expand, but is assistance provision keeping pace? We consider which islands are technically within the EU, look at the quality of care available and ask if patients on certain islands would always need to be evacuated to a higher level of care. We also look at specific requirements for high-net-worth clients, including security training and preparation, kidnap and ransom insurance, and evacuation protocols</abstract>
