<abstract>The discipline of risk management was formaly recognised in Australia when two separate groups of Insurance Buyers got together in Sidney to discuss the viability and desirability of forming and Insurance Buyers Association. As a result of these and subsequent gathering a formal meeting was called in 1975 and resulted in the  formation on the Risk and Insurance Managers of Australasia</abstract>
