<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Cette note traite de l'explosion thermique dans son aspect fondamental et expérimental. L'auteur tente de définir l'explosion thermique et ses paramètres caractéristiques . Les techniques calorimétriques utilisées dans la recherche de ces paramètres sont détaillées et le domaine d'application de chacun des appareils est discuté. Un modèle de classement des systèmes chimiques, emprunté à la literature, est reproduit. Par ailleurs, un aspect de la prévention des risques d'explosion thermique est traité par l'examen thermocinétique et thermique du couple système chimique/milieu extérieur, le système chimique étant considéré comme un ensemble faisant l'objet soit d'une reaction chimique exothermique, soit tout simplement d'une réaction de décomposition d'un ou plusieurs constituants chimiques. L'identification des paramètres, le classement et la prévention s'adressent à ces deux cas de figures</abstract>
